En el presente trabajo se determinó el efecto antibacteriano de la semilla de Persea americana en cepas de Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923. Metodología. Se preparó el extracto etanólico de la muestra de Persea americana, para la prueba de solubilidad con diferentes solventes, Screening fitoquímico, preparación de los discos para la incubación, se determinó la concentración óptima del extracto etanólico y su efecto antibacteriano in vitro en cepas de Staphylococcus aureus mediante el método de Kirby Bauer con el fármaco Ciprofloxacino. La investigación es de tipo experimental. Resultados. El extracto contiene compuestos fenólicos, carbohidratos, azúcares reductores, lactonas , insaturadas, con menor cantidad de antocianinas, cantidades mínimas de taninos y saponinas. Se observó un incremento progresivo de los halos de inhibición hasta 13.83 mm a medida que se incrementaba la concentración del extracto etanólico de la semilla de Persea americana presenta un efecto antibacteriano “in vitro” sobre Staphylococcus aureus. Conclusiones. El extracto etanólico de la semilla de Persea americana contiene compuestos fenólicos, carbohidratos, azúcares reductores y lactonas, insaturadas. El extracto presentó efecto antibacteriano “in vitro” sobre la cepa de Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 a concentraciones de elevadas y finalmente el extracto etanólico de la semilla de Persea americana tubo una acción antibacteriana en un 50% en comparación al control positivo de ciprofloxacino. Methodology. Some secondary metabolites like Phenolic compounds,
