Abstract

El estiramiento es una de las formas más antiguas de la terapia manual; su principal función es mejorar la flexibilidad; mejorando este punto, se podrá aumentar el rango articular y con ello la funcionabilidad de la articulación y de los componentes periarticulares como lo son la cápsula articular, los ligamentos, tendones, fascia y músculos. Desde un principio el estiramiento ha sido aplicado solo en el ámbito deportivo; sin embargo, se ha considerado incluirlo en los programas de rehabilitación como método de tratamiento de múltiples disfunciones del aparato locomotor

Stretching in one of the oldest forms of manual therapy; its main function is to improve flexibility; improving this point, it will be posible to increase the joint range and with it the functionality of the articulation and of the periarticular components such as the joint capsule, ligaments, tendons, fascia and muscles. From the beginning the stretch has been applied only in the sports field; however, it has been considered to include it in rehabilitation programs as a method of treating multiple dysfunctions of the locomotor system
