Abstract

Estas fracturas alteran la pronosupinación, fundamental para la función de la prensión de la mano. El mecanismo de lesión es directo (el más frecuente) o indirecto con caídas sobre la palma de la mano. La clínica se caracteriza por deformidad, impotencia funcional y acortamiento. Las fracturas más importantes son de tres tipos: Fractura-luxación de Monteggia: Consiste en fractura de cúbito y luxación del extremo proximal del radio. Representa el 7% de las fracturas del antebrazo. El tratamiento es ortopédico en niños y quirúrgico en adultos (osteosíntesis rígida del cúbito).
