dc.description.abstract | Objective: To evaluate the in vitro antimicrobial activity of the hydroalcoholic extract of the leaves and flowers of Satureja pulchella (Panisara) in strains of Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis. Recognize the secondary metabolites responsible for the antimicrobial effect. Methods: Phytochemical screening or phytochemical screening, microdilution method and recovery method by direct contamination. Results: The secondary metabolites found more frequently in the hydroalcoholic extract of the Satureja pulchella (Panisara), were determined by the phytochemical Screening and were checked qualitatively; were detected: alkaloids, flavonoids and phenolic compounds. To determine the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) were determined by observing the lowest concentration of the agent (17 different concentrations of the hydroalcoholic extract) that inhibited the visible growth of the bacteria within the inoculated wells of the microplate. The bacterial production by the method of recovery by direct contamination, the reading of the bacterial production was estimated by the colony count in the culture of sown plates. This is verified by sowing the inoculum which if there is an obvious significant logarithmic reduction with respect to the initial concentration of the test strain. Conclusions: By means of the microdilution method, it was determined that in the 17 concentrations of the investigated extract, only the highest concentration (presented MIC = 32768 μg / mL), against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538 and Staphylococcus epidermidis ATCC 12228. By means of the recovery method by direct contamination it was evident that although at the concentration of 100 mg / mL of the hydroalcoholic extract of the parts of the leaf and the flowers of Satureja pulchella (Panisara), against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538 and Staphylococcus epidermidis ATCC 12228, there was a logarithmic decrease of the concentrations of levels evaluated; said antibacterial activity if it is limited. | spa_PE |
