Migraña: Enfoque en terapia manual ortopédica

Abstract

La migraña, caracterizado por un desorden crónico neurológico, puede producir incapacidad en la persona casi total durante cada episodio, constituyéndose en un problema de la salud que requiere un adecuado diagnóstico y tratamiento. Aún sigue siendo un tema de investigación, ya que no presentan una respuesta concreta ante la cascada de eventos que desencadenan la migraña, la causa real del dolor de cabeza, pero se han encontrado aportes que demuestran la eficacia de tratamientos conservadores, incluyendo a la terapia manual, que ayudan a prevenir episodios de migraña y disminuir su grado de prevalencia e impacto socioeconómico que acarrea dicha enfermedad, ayudando a la población a tener mayor información sobre tratamientos que benefician a su mejoría disminuyendo el grado de discapacidad. Todos estos avances han permitido el desarrollo de alternativas terapéuticas a un buen número de pacientes afectados por una cefalea muchas veces crónica e incapacitante. La investigación en el área de ejercicios terapéutico y las migrañas; aportan datos importantes en cuanto a los tratamientos no farmacológicos; el tratamiento fisioterapéutico basado en terapia manual ortopédica mostró una mejora en el cuadro clínico, mejorando la funcionalidad; y demuestra que los ejercicios terapéuticos basados en terapia manual ortopédica que puede reducir la sintomatología a corto y a largo plazo en síntomas asociados a las migrañas crónicas o cefalea cervicogénica, como la intensidad y frecuencia del dolor, la disminución del consumo de fármacos, la mejora de la discapacidad y la calidad de vida
