Terapia coadyuvante en el tratamiento de los desórdenes temporomandibulares

Abstract

El siguiente trabajo tiene como objetivo dar a conocer y actualizar al estomatólogo de las diferentes terapias de apoyo o alternativas terapéuticas que se disponen para el tratamiento de los desórdenes tempromandibulares, para lo cual primero debemos de conocer que el dolor orofacial es una causa común en la atención dental. La mayoría de los DTM son de origen odontogénico. Sin embargo, es importante que el odontólogo sea capaz de diferenciarlas de otras etiologías posibles. La gran diversidad de síntomas y la evolución de los DTM hacen que uno de los principales síntomas sea el dolor, y a menudo no se sabe el origen de estos, por lo tanto, el paciente a veces busca ayuda en otras especialidades tales como otorrinolaringología o neurología sin tener resultados favorables. Por tales motivos es necesario realizar un buen examen clínico al igual que exámenes complementarios, para llegar a un buen diagnóstico y detección de los factores causales, enfatizado que el estrés es un elemento que se debe de considerar. La existencia de múltiples maneras de tratar estos trastornos musculo articulares nos hace considerar variadas alternativas para su tratamiento, es decir que se pueden usar uno o más procedimientos en un mismo paciente para su recuperación. Lo cual nos lleva a estudiar y realizar diferentes terapias coadyuvantes para el tratamiento de los DTM. muchas de estas son terapias en vías de más estudios para afianzar sus resultados y otras nos muestran gran respaldo académico y evolución con el pasar del tiempo. Es por eso, que es deber del estomatólogo saber de éste tipo de terapias de soporte que lo ayudaran en la carrera profesional

The aim of the present work is to inform and update the stomatologist of the different supportive therapies or therapeutic alternatives that are available for the treatment of the tempromandibular disorders, for which we must first know that orofacial pain is a common cause in the dental care Most TMDs are of odontogenic origin. However, it is important that the dentist be able to differentiate them from other possible etiologies. The great diversity of symptoms and the evolution of TMD make one of the main symptoms is pain, and often the origin is not known, therefore, the patient sometimes seeks help in other specialties such as otorhinolaryngology or neurology without having favorable results. For these reasons it is necessary to perform a good clinical examination as well as complementary tests, to arrive at a good diagnosis and detection of causal factors, emphasizing that stress is an element that must be considered. The existence of multiple ways of treating these musculoskeletal disorders makes us consider several alternatives for its treatment, that is to say that one or more procedures can be used in the same patient for its recovery. This leads us to study and perform different adjuvant therapies for the treatment of TMD. many of these are therapies in the way of more studies to strengthen their results and others show great academic support and evolution over time. That is why it is the duty of the stomatologist to know about this type of support therapies that will help him in the professional career
